about me
Amanda E. Rountree (she/her) is an award-winning director, playwright, and fine artist with more than ten years experience directing, producing, performing, and stage managing. Amanda is a hands-on, fiercely passionate artist with a desire to collaborate with fellow creatives to generate innovative theatrical experiences. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Drama with an MFA in Theatre Directing, and was a founding member of New Threads Theatre Company, and a board member of The Homespun Players. With a background in both the visual arts (BFA in Studio Art) and in arts administration, she brings a distinctly interdisciplinary approach to directing and producing. She has worked on contemporary plays, reimagining classic works, theatrical devising, and new play initiatives. Her work embraces the full wonder, horror, and mystery of life through the exploration of forgotten histories, folklore and mythology; and the myriad ways spirituality intersects with sexuality, feminism, and both individual and communal identities.
Passion Projects (pieces Iād love to direct!): After Life by Jack Thorne, Letters from Max and Passion Play by Sarah Ruhl, The Wheel by Zinnie Harris, Describe the Night by Rajiv Joseph, A Dream Play by Strindberg & Churchill, The Thin Place by Lucas Hnath, Peter and Alice by John Logan.
